Meeting with the fishermen's cooperative in San Cristobal on November 17th. The meeting was held in the Mayor's office. We discussed how many fishing boats that are out fishing and how they handle incidents at sea. There are permanently 300 - 600 smaller fishing boats out fishing. Every boat is manned by 2 - 3 fishermen. They are always ready to support boats/ships in distress, but it is not connected to an organized sea rescue organization. The fishermen would welcome a sea rescue organization and support it.
